hey guys
if you have old computer stuff laying around, I could sure use it.
first, I would like to find a cheap amiga computer. If you have one, pm me.
second, If you have these parts and would like to sell them or "donate" them:
*memory--EDO DIMM and SDRAM (PC100-PC133)

Ok, I have to ask, what do you need an Amiga computer for?
Especially since they were made before you were born?

kicks and giggles.
they are awesome, real efficient for 20mhz.

I have a Gateway DX33 w/ 8mg ram and 512mg hard drive in original boxes with 3 ring manuals and all software on 51/2" floppies. Don't know why I still have it except it works and I hate to throw out anything that works.

Amigas are cool, but you have no idea how primitive they are until you go back to using one. I still have my A3000 in my parent's garage and it still works (I think). I think it ran in 320x200 or 640x200 native res? Ouch...
You can get very good Amiga emulators for the PC, one of them is called UAE. It's been around for 10+ years. Saves a lot of desk space and no pesky floppy disks...
On a similar topic there are also very good C64 emulators for the PC.
I am thinking about turning a 6851 SID chip (the C64 audio chip) into a laser display controller, so I have been looking into this stuff recently.

ive played around with a A4000T. It had that video toaster on it. It was cool.
Basically I need old SDRAM memory.

I just got a Color Classic, not sure what i'm going to do with it, I understand the old computer collection thing though, they are just cool pieces to have around.

Hmm, I might sell my A4000/040 with video toaster 4000, but only if I can get my old A3000 back from jkeyzer
(I figure it's worth around $500, I have the VT install disks and binder, and a big stack of software, including morph plus (very cool and pretty easy to use morphing program)
I have a couple celeron processors, a 400 and a 466. Those are free if you want them. I also have some bad floppy disks.

oh and on a completly different topic,
i was wondering how reliable the pentium pro systems are--in long term...
I have good parts. Antec power supply, good power...good intel board. dual 333mhz overdrive chips.
although my dad had a athlon machine next to where my machine resides, he had around 12 caps break open and ooze...
i'm thinking about getting a UPS....just so I can be sure the power is clean.

I also have a Fujitsu Stylistic pen tablet computer with aging monochrome display that I'd sell for $100. It's a dx4/100 that runs win95. It's slow but it works. Some people run unix on them. I had it working on the wireless network until my wireless card died. External floppy drive included.

Lol- Man I'm getting Old I'm meeting new nerds who don't even know what a 486 Is. I remember when that wasn't so bad. Or even better, what an ISA is. This kid at work the other day looked at this "long black thing" and asked what it is. Wow- I used to install ISA cards because PCI was to expensive lol.

If you want cheap boxes to throw around and don't cost you $$$$$ in energy bills (and are loud) go check out the Linksys nslu2. It's a network storage adapter that you can load linux on and use for all sorts of stuff.

i used to have some memory cores, but they got lost in a move.
i still have a few 8" floppsy disks. you want a couple of those?
i think one still has some line-printer porn on it - must be viewed on 132-column blue bar paper for best effect.
i think i've still got an Intel 8008, and a 2102 256-byte UVEPROM.
i did finally pitch the vacuum tubes tho.

i'm a old-school nerd. Always have been. My favorite system was a 486/80....It was awesome. Windows 95 and everything.
next best system was a 386/40. Windows 3.11.....CD-ROM!!!
I built a 486/100 from a new SOYO motherboard and chip, and I was lucky enough to get some cool cards (Vesa Logic, ya know the ISA+PCI slot) like video and I think I even got a controller card. but I only have one VL slot.
Now that's super-old geekin'

Line printer porn? Haven't heard of that before.
Have any of you heard chain printer music? In high school, an instructor loaded a stack of cards (yes, it was that old) that were punched to print the right combinations and timing of symbols such that the sound of the strikers hitting the paper played the tune "She'll be comin' around the mountain". It was hilarious.

zdtv was great, Leo Laporte's voice drove my wife nuts, the that is on there now just blows. The screen savers was cool but they replaced it with attack of the show

We are using my old Athlon 800 at my wife's Quiznos shop, running on a old Abit board, so old it has an ISA slot.

I found some 64MB PC100 and 1 PC66(64mb)
the old cererons were great, you could overclock the SHIT out of them... I had my 400 running 600 for a long time with the OEM fan! it still works fine, I pulled it out and put it in a computer when I put in my Athlon500(faster at stock speed than the celeron overclocked)
