Yes, I'm using Boxster shifter cables...

I'm using a shifter from a Boxster with my Subaru 5MT transmission swap.

The good news about the Boxster shifter is that the cables exit towards the rear. The down-side is that the attachment for the "in and out" action of the suby 5MT shift rod is below the pivot point on the shift lever. This requires a extra pivot in your cable linkage set-up if you want to have the standard H-pattern shifting.

The toyota MR2 shifter has the in-out cable attachment above the shifter pivot, so shift lever motion is proportional to cable push-pull. I found that the boxster shift levers were easier to come by and a little better quality than the MR2 shift levers. I can provide pictures of my setup if this is the info you are looking for.

I have a GM 3.1lt 60degree V6 installed with a "73" side shifter transaxle.
I would be interested in seeing the bracket design that holds the cable ends at the shift mechanism.

The mechanism I built is for a subaru transmission (which has the shift rod at the rear of the tranny). It looks very similar to the one sold by Zero Decibel Motorsports (only theirs is prettier).

There's a couple of folks on here who have made cable mechanisms for the side shift and tail shift 914 transmissions. Here's one thread on the topic:

By the way, I have two brand-new 6-foot long push-pull cables that I will sell to you for half of what they cost new. They were too short for my subaru transmission, but they might be just right for the side-shift location on the 914 tranny.

I bent the 914 rod to clear my Nissan engine or I cloned it from scratch, I don't remember exactly. I'll look for a decent pic.

Found pics. Rear half is stock 914. Front half is bought tubing and I think a 911 coupler because it was available separately.
Trick was to get it clocked to fit between the oil pan and a/c comp.

The transmission I’m using is a 5-speed manual from a 1999 Subaru legacy but plenty of other Suby transmissions will work. They just have to be converted to 2WD. The whole shifter set-up is completely custom. The hand shift lever mechanism is from an early 2000’s Porsche Boxster. The cables were purchased from Midwest Control Products https://midwestcontrol.com/shop/40-084-BH-BH-3-MSF-4-QD250. The linkage at the tranny end was designed and built by me and all of the hardware/joints/etc. was sourced from McMaster Carr https://www.mcmaster.com/. Here are a couple of pictures of my set-up. Disclaimer… none of my setup has been tested. I think it should work.
