Ok. So i have a custom made dash that is much ligther and does preserve the pod frame. Does anyone have a nice pod they want to let go of? Dont care about the rest of the dash i just need the pod. I really dont like how unfinished this all looks.

I have several dash pads but want to be sure I understand what you need. Is this cutting the part you don’t need.
If so will check the ones I have and do that but concerned I don’t understand what you need.
Thanks

I dont need anything except the surround for the gauges. The whole long dash will not be used. My hairbrained scheme is to cut smooth to the edge and cover in alcantara so that it looks decent.

Basically just this:

That’s what I thought ….
Heading to storage to see if I have a good one.
Forget your number so pm and I will test you what I have .

Make one out of a piece of aluminum. Make it out of card board first then transfer it to the aluminum.

There are many things i can do on the car. Basic wiring, suspension replacement, painting, simple mechanical swaps, brake work, etc.... but metal bending is a damn art and that shape is really complex particularly if you want it to fit neatly into the dash as designed. I definitely lack the skill.

I have a metal frame for the gauges for sale in my post linked below:

I don't need the frame for the gauges. I need the dash pod that covers the whole thing.

How about an art project?

Create a cardboard template of the desired pod shape and attach to the dash frame with tape.

Cut two inch wide strips of fiberglass, soak in resin, and apply until you get the general shape and thickness.

When dry, apply some type of flex filler bondo, and sand.

Create mounting holes.

Cover with material and install.

A few years back I connected with a guy who had a mobile biz (big box van) who'd float to the various auto dealerships &
collision repair shops in the area doing vinyl repairs.
He could fix a tear in upholstery or crack in a dash & color match it like it wasn't there.
This was before various players started reproducing dash tops so I tossed him a take-off that had a crack & asked him to make it look like new.
It turned out awesome so I set him up with a dash frame to make future work easier, he turned out 4 or 5 then POOF vanished.
In the mean time I stashed away a bunch for that service but then Mark & George started making repop's. So I still have a bunch of cores I haven't tossed out.

Very nice of you! The ones Terry had were pretty trashed and would be too much work. I really appreciate it.

sad.gif well out of about 12 I had rat-holed, NONE turned out to be perfect in that pod shroud area, sorry.

I sent Bruce Stone about 6 of these and he powder coated them. He may still have some left. AL
BillJ
How would he have powder coated them? These are foam and rubber right? Did you make some.out of.metal? That would be prefect!!!

This is not a big deal to the right guy,

Just get an old bad dash and have someone with a bandsaw cut what you want and then work on massaging the shape and covering that form with the end material. Get the elements and then you get the upholstery guy to work his magic if you don't have that skill set.

If you do not have that skillset you are going to need to spend some money with someone that does.
