Full Version: Torque for nuts on the rubber motor mounts

Hi All.

I went with 21.7 ftlb based on Haynes and destroyed the threads on the rubber mount that goes between the engine and the mounting bar.

The generic torque specs (google) for M8 are listed as 19.5 ftlb max. I went over ... but is that enough to cause a failure?

I am thinking maybe I did not get the Haynes spec right and the 21.7 is for the mounting bar to chassis bolts and brackets to case, which are bigger. Or the mount is not hardened steel?

How tight should I make those bolts (once I get a replacement set of rubber mounts, that is).

Many thanks.
