Place a WTB: in the classified ads section here. We have a few vendors of used parts here. It is a dedicated 914 switch. beerchug.gif

You need the single pole switch that is depressed when the handle is lowered.
The wire pictured actually enters the crossmember through a hole near the floor
and attaches to a female connector on the switch.
If you touch that wire to ground the light should come on.
Your switch has left an impression where it was mounted

Also, for some reason (?) some cars use the wider (9mm?) connector/spade while others (like mine) use the narrower 7mm(?) single connector spade. The narrow is a sometimes hard to find VW part. Also, some are sold as door switches but they work in reverse, I think.

Part number is 113 947 561, followed by D, G, E, or H depending on year or use for the handbrake or the door.

Thanks all- do I need to remove that plastic grommet or does it stay? I'm assuming I'll need to take it out and peal back the vinyl.

The switch is identical to the one in the door jamb, just no rubber boot.
