Is there a resource that shows total production by color somewhere? Curious which is more rare, Delphi or Willow Green.

You can search the VIN database by color. A quick search of the current database shows about twice as many Delphi as Willow. ~90 vs ~45.

EDIT: On a side note....and maybe I'm not looking at the database #'s correctly, but it looks like there are only about 5K VIN's. I think there were about 118K 914's made. It seems that there are alot of 914's out there either dead, or hopefully in hiding.

Thanks, will try that. Looking at 2 914s, a 71 Willow Green and a 74 Delphi Green. Leaning towards Willow but it is a 1.7, the 74 is 2.0 both in excellent condition.

2.0 only....you will not regret it!!

Thanks guys. Leaning towards the 2.0, had a 73 in the 80s, great car. The 71 is a survivor, Willow Green, tan interior, even original foot rest but the 1.7 engine is not as exciting as the 2.0. I need to get my eyes on both cars and drive them, same owner.

As someone who owns both an original willow green and an original delphi green 914, I have a definite choice.

Willow green was only offered in '71 & '72. All other things being equal, my hands down choice is willow green. However, condition is more important than the color. You can change the engine (i.e. 1.7 to 2.0, 2.7 etc), you can change the color, but repairing collision damage or rust, no thanks.

Delphi Green was only available in 73~74 as a custom color, but also consider that the 71 transmission is a less desirable tail shifter.

Oh boy, now my decision is clear as mud. Having owned many Porsches, several 912s, a 73 914 2.0, 73.5 911T, 81 SC, 84 Carrera, 83 SC, 79 SC, 79 930, and 97 993 C4S, I tend to lean towards rarity so the Willow Green is a huge plus, kind of like Leaf Green with the 912s and the 2.0 is a huge plus for displacement and Delphi Green is one of my favorite colors from the 73/74 years. Despite the smaller displacement, the 1.7 is simple with the lack of bumperettes, the fixed passenger seat and no frills interior, steel wheels with chrome caps vs more attractive Fuchs. If I could swing both it would be easy but I would gain one more 914 and one less wife.

Would love a Willow car but am partial to Delphi
