Has anyone tried the Brass Shift Rod Bushings available from Pelican? Are they worth the money or are they snake oil?

I went with a new nylon bushing for the firewall. If you cut the bushing wall at 45 degrees or so you can slip it over the the shift rod & push it into the firewall without having to disconnect the rod. The 45 degrees cut angle helps to keep out the crap & gives the thing less of a DAPO look. FYI. Whatever.

I have trouble getting those installed without the rod in place! How hard is it with the rod installed?

I use them on almost every car in the shop. I feel like they do help improve the shifting but only marginally. Another benefit is they won't deteriorate as quickly. I've seen shift bushings go bad/warp/elongate/etc. after only a few years in service.

It's easy. Clean everything first. BTDT.

It just pushes straight in. A tap or two with a small wood block & a mallet helps. The right bushing will go through both panels of the firewall & can be seen from inside the car in the tunnel.

If you heat the FW bushing up in HOT water to soften it a bit, it goes in way easier. Smearing glycerin on the bushing helps too.

Do all three here if you are taking it apart...you be good for years to come

that makes them go it the fit is still rubbish even if the hole isn't flogged out,went to Tangerine FW bush first off ...real improvement ,got carried away after that and went with FW uni- joint then metal bushes and custom console shift mount and second uni-joint works a treat as per Tangerine set up.

it has been our experience that they wear out the linkage and are noisy

I have nylon or whatever it's made of at the firewall. Others have said, warm water and a little lube go a long way. Pops right in.

Here is mine with late 911 reinforced shifter coupler. Please be aware you will HAVE to size the brass bushing (polish it down) to fit.

Thanks for Y'alls input. I do have the poly bronze shift console bushing, was just considering the brass if anyone has had a better experience with them. I tried to put in a copy of the link ( thanks Dlee) but my computer would not cooperate.

I too was thinking of both longevity and shift improvement.....
