this transmission configuration was used in V-8 conversions and used an inverted HA for fifth gear effectively reducing the engine RPMS be 15 to 20% in top gear. 20 years ago, I tried an experiment on our 75 2.0/4 to try to improve gas mileage, but the 4 cylinder did not have enough umph to churn the gear and I put the trans on the shelf. It all worked good when stored. might be good for a big six build for more top speed and lower RPMS. I believe I used a U fourth from a 901 four speed, but need to confirm. the first three gears are stock 914/4 gears. $1200 obo pic looks like any dirty trans, . should anyone be interested, I will pull the guts and check it out.Click to view attachment
