However, how do I know how much fuel is in the tank, if I run with this gauge? (serious question)

You run a GT style (i have one listed for sale), or a VW VDO gauge (cheapest option)
OR you have John Bell mod this one into a triple gauge.

Not a fuel gauge. Oil temp and pressure gauge.
