I think I have raced against this car in PCA when it used to be maroon color

The article is inaccurate to say that it is vintage legal
Some clubs would find a place for it to run in a catch all class. But could never issue a vintage log book as it would not meet production class rules.

IIRC, that car ran in GT1 back in the day with PCA. I'm sure it could be run with vintage groups, but it wouldn't be in a regular 914 run group.

Yes, it had a maroon tail and sold for just $30,000 on the same site.

I imagine it would be welcome to play in HSR, but given the engine and gearbox probably run in Group 9 or 10 where it would be a rolling chicane.

There is a reason the Current owner never raced it.. only DE
Bet he found out it wasn’t really Vintage legal also

I think the first owner that built it was Ron Missack (sp)?

It was built by Ron Mistak if I recall correctly. I remember the article on the car from the late 90s or so. Very cool car. $30k was a pretty good deal, but as mentioned there would be limits as to where you can race in (vintage or otherwise). You could probably run SCCA Super Production, or rebody it to run a GT class somewhere. If it has a PCA logbook, it would be grandfathered in (not sure it would meet current tech requirements).

I was trying to think of his name and that's it!
Used to Auto-X in the San Diego PCA in the late 90's early 2000's and he used to bring that out as it was a work in progress---always seemed like the odd duck because "classing" it was near impossible with the hodge podge of stuff going on so it always ran under "X" (the wild card, anything goes) and mostly seemed like it was in constant shake out mode. Interesting build for sure...after decades of trying to dial it in he sold blink.gif

Yep. Ron's creation. Pretty cool car. Here is a picture of his car when he was next to me in the paddock at Las Vegas in 2005.

I remember reading an article about it. I don’t see how anyone could think it would work for vintage racing. It’s a cool car though.

Cool car, but yeah, hard to class. 'Round here it might fall into one of the GT classes or Exhibition.
Justinp71

Would be fun to do DE's in. It's worth $30k just for the drive terrain.

In 97’ a $175k BUILD was a staggering investment.

Yes but is it fast?

Redrum’s brother?
Justinp71

Ends in a couple hours... Only at $12k for the moment.
Charles Freeborn
@ $32 now. I can't imagine the reserve is less than 50.

Does not appear to have sold.

I think BaT would have been a better venue. The P car world is largely water cooled anymore.
