I'm wanting to take these apart, so I can use the CV for my Subaflange.

Can someone advise me on how to do that?

Remove clamp holding rubber boot
Slide boot away from cv joint
On both sides of the cv joint you should find a c-clip holding the cv in place.
Remove both c-clips
Place axle into a vise, just to support the cv, yet not holding the axle tight
Pound the axle out of the Cc joint

No need to remove clamp from rubber boot.

There is only one c-clip on the inboard side of the CV joint. . Circled in red

Remove the c-clip. At that point the axle can be removed from the CV joint

Be warned that that the axle may not easily come out of the CV joint. Often the splines get buggered up at the notch for the c-clip. Careful bevelling of the sharp splines around the circumference of the notch will help ease axle removal.

Once axle is removed from the CV, the rubber boot and metal boot flange can be removed from the axle as an assembly once you remove the circular spring washer #22 in diagram that will otherwise prevent the small end of the boot from being removed from the axle if it gets hung up in the circlip notch.

Just noticed you have 911 axles there

Pretty much the same but you’ll need to gently pry off the metal lid (#11) 1st to expose the clip#6

Are you saying to take the clip off that is on the ends of the axle, and then the cv will slide off the end of the axle?

Yes

Some come off easily - others are tougher. It all depends on the condition of the splines around that notch that holds the clip.

Nice video! If a picture is worth a 1000 words, a video is worth a million!

As always great video by Ian!
