Just thought I would pass along this recall notice I found over on The Samba website for Harbor Freight Jack Stands. Here is the official link: https://www.harborfreight.com/js-details

Since Porsche 914's have a longstanding love affair with jack stands, those of us who are using Harbor Freight jack stands might want to check this out to see if they are using the recalled jack stands.

Stay safe my friends!

That's been ongoing since mid-2020, man. If your 914 has last this long on their jackstands, you're probably Ok...lol

Greg Amy:
They just added three more models to the recall list.

If you're still buying HF jackstands, well...

Edit: they are useful as good hammers, though..

The new replacements are seriously redesigned and improved; they did a lot more than just fix the manufacturing defects.

I agree, or any ratcheting jack stands for that matter. They all scare the crap out of me.

this is the only style of jack stand I will get under a vehicle with.

Another jackstand thread.

I guess 914's do live on jackstands a significant portion of their lives. I bet 5% of all 914World threads are about jackstands.

What's your favorite style of jackstand?
What's your favorite color of jackstand?
If you go a period of time not needing a jackstand, do you just put a couple under your 914 so things feel "right" in the world?

Looking forward to the next jackstand thread.

Neat video BTW, thanks for posting.

I have ratchet type jack stands….not HF but suspect little difference.
If you use the triangular pin in the ratchet does that make them safe?

I put long zip ties on, tightly, over the handles and around a leg. You have to cut the ZTs to lower the posts. Safety for pennies.
