Good morning, I hope everybody had a good weekend. Quick favor to ask – can you all remind me if I use a white coat of high temp grease on the transmission input shaft before installing the throw out bearing and meeting it to be engine?

Believe so, but would appreciate a reminder, especially since I’m teaching my 16 year old had to do this and would like to make sure I am properly instructing him.

Thank you!

For sure, light coat.

Be careful, do not want grease on the disc. Perhaps a graphite dry lube? making sure she slides reasonably smooth

Very light

Been doing this for 38 years on probably 50 different clutch swaps
No problem yet. But not much grease

I’ve been using something called Z-Powder, Dow-Corning, I’ve had the container for 35+ years, doesn’t attract dirt.
