Yes. Had a fried wiring harness right at the firewall, but was running when parked.
The guy I bought it from shorted out the starter.

I have one in the back with 10 Porsche seats “stored” on it.
I went so far as to add plywood and legs to keep the seats from falling off.

Btw, free seats at Hershey at 4:30 pm end of day rush…and we had a truck that day

Reminds me of some of those Wayne Carini episodes where it would take a day just getting to the car!

Cool! Did you get the date from the VIN or was told it’s a ‘71? Not that it’s a big deal either way but maybe the rear bumper was changed at some point.. I was thinking the ‘70 & ‘71 had the straight cut recess (for license plate)?

I will have to dig out the title for the vin, but it is a '71, 1.7 obviously.
The engine was rebuilt at a local VW shop just before I bought it. It has a single carb.
No rust, and body is in good shape. Original color was sunflower yellow. I have delusions of painting a polizei color scheme on it some day. Once I get my other 914 finished, I will try and get this one started. Since it is not jackstands, I have a fighting chance of reviving it.

Or selling it to someone with a trailer

Is it Bahia? Looks like Red Metallic L97D wasn't available in 71, but it seems darker than Bahia. Prob just the lighting

It is some sort of yellow. The burgundy was a respray. See the photo of the floorpans. I think sunflower?

I was in a trance thinking about the red and forgot those pics and that you'd already said it was sunflower

Put air in the tires and pulled it out of stoarge this week.

It's solid all around that hole. I hammered and poked it pretty hard.

Jack supports are solid and the car was undercoated years ago.
