Question on engine…….cylinder air deflector plates are painted black.
What is correct finish for spring steel brackets that hold deflectors in place?

A first approximation would be whatever was done on the 1969 911T, as that was the source for the 914-6 engine.

I don't have a real answer, though.

Some were flat and some curved with a different surface finish.
I do know that on a recent 911 SC engine they were curved and not easily installed
I have no recollection of that on earley engines.
So...around a seven year window and on our cars the flat ones.
