I got the Quickjack set up and finally have better access under the 914. Should there be a cover on the pulley assembly in this picture? There is a transmission fluid leak that manifests here but i do not believe this is the source...

No cover on that

This area can get cruddy for sure, take it all apart clean and grease it up a bit.

Please take your clutch cable loose
Clean it
And lube it
It’s a maintenance item

You are missing the rubber boot at the cable connection to the pulley housing. Make sure you have the beer tab washer too, can't see it for sure.
