Hello again,
Testing the mixture at idle and cruise, using an exhaust tester at my mechanics shop, and he says to set the CO to '2'. It was at around 4 to 4.5.
Set it to 2, and now it seems to be too lean. Lost it's power, acceleration is flat, etc.
What is the proper value?
( 1972, 1.7 )
Thank you,
Lonny

look on the left side of the engine compartment.
you will find a sticker that will say that 2% CO is the norm.
that's the value for my 74 so it may even be a bit higher? for yours.

I'll look, but it's obviously too lean at 2%.
Anything else that could cause it to go flat with the mix at 2?
It had good juice at 4, then we toned it down to 2 and it lost all it's oats, so to speak.

i'd say that something else is wrong....
my d-jet failed going lean....
we need to have a talk:
how's your fuel pressure?

Fuel pressure is 29. Just brought it down from 36 last weekend.

what are you going to do? tell him to put a single carb on?
I *think* I remember someone testing this way and 4 was gud... why did he drop it?

I've been looking over the procedures for calibrating the MPS, and notice that the full load stop screw is an important part ...
Problem .. my mechanic removed that screw, adjusted the MPS, then shot some black silicon sealer in there without the screw in place. I also seriously doubt that he knows anything about the adjustments, other than using the smaller inner screw to modify the mixture, as he was somewhat in disbelief when I told him there is an outer screw as well.
And he did that 'procedure' prior to my finding the lastest vacuum leak.
So, I am going to have to either :
A. Calibrate my MPS
or
B. Get another one that my mechanic hasn't screwed with. ( Pun intended ).
