So by "early" does that include 1970-6 cars? Did the 4's & 6's get the same dealer installed radios?

Any radio was a dealer or radio store install. Most dealers stayed away from German radios because they were high quality and expensive. Most installed Motorola that were cheap. Early becker radio were 5 button, later they went to 6 buttons. Even earlier versions of this radio came in two pieces of front end and power amplifier.
