1974 – Red 914 Porsche 2.0 liter – 95,310 miles odometer + ~2500 miles since 02/07
PRICE REDUCED TO 12K

Set up as a HPDE Track Car by RAC, previously was an Autocross Car. Currently street legal w/VA license & reg. Garage kept. Prepared and maintained as a Track Car by Stuttgart Porsche of Williamsburg VA. Owned since 5/89, did some autocross in early 90’s. Went on Track 2/06. End of Track running ~ 12/06. Italics below represent upgrades since I owned it. Only breakdown on track was for a broken half shaft at VIR.

Vehicle Modifications
1. Suspension - lowered and stiffened by prior owner. Adj front swaybar. Adj rear swaybar (off car for track events)
2. Brakes - Upgraded to 19mm master cylinder. SS Braided lines. Using stock PBR Pads and stock rotors. Used ceramic pads on the track.
3. Seat Belts - 5 point camlock seat belts installed for driver and passenger replacing 5 way lever latch belts. New 3-way belt installed once no longer used on track.
4. Steering - updated to turbo tie rods.
5. Right side mirror was added.
6. Underbody tie-downs added front (2) and rear (2). Needed for trailering or being pulled off track.
7. Door panels redone as speakers were cut into doors and panels and backing board was worn-out.
Engine & transmission
8. Engine blueprinted and balanced by prev owner. Runs to 6000rpm w/o issue – redline is 5600.
9. Fuel Pump – Relocated to front of vehicle. Avoids engine heat issues.
10. Rain baffles were removed to allow more air to engine by prior owner.
11. Engine thermostatic heating baffles removed as were inclined to stick at high summer temps.
12. K&N cylinder type air filter fitted. OEM parts saved.
13. Auto Atlanta high rpm kit added. Diff head sensor provides diff reading to computer at high rpm and diff fuel regulator feeds more fuel to engine and providing noticeable increase in HP at high rpms.
14. Deep oil sump added (for oil pick-up during hard cornering)
15. Heavy duty oil pump added by prior owner.
16. Replaced motor and transmission mounts. Transmission mounts are now solid type.
17. Heavy duty clutch, pressure plate & new flywheel and clutch cable
18. Rev limiting rotor added – 5600 rpm for normal driving.
Tire Extras
19. 6 extra original Fuchs Rims plus 8 tire caps
Issues
20. Transmission synchros for 1st and reverse worn when bought.
21. Tach is off slightly 5600rpm is really 6000rpm.
22. Wipers have only high speed and don’t park.
23. Back window rattles.
24. Needs paint badly – it’s a track car and slid through a gravel trap once. It was a Lime Green car originally and was stripped and painted red. Also needs a little bondo work at cowl & windshield weld, Rubber joint had been removed and metal had been welded for stiffness by prior owner.
Changes
25. Radio not connected. Speakers removed from under dash. Parts saved.
26. Clock replaced by oil pressure gauge. Clock saved.
27. Doors redone w/ no pockets & no speakers. OEM door storage compartments saved.
28. Trunks - Pads removed from hood & trunk. Parts saved.

TRACK CAR COMMENTS – Drives extremely well, handles superbly. Perfect for HDPE and learning to drive at the limit. Excellent steering and throttle modulation. Using soft compound racing tires Yokohamas Advan AO32R 205/50-VR15, the brakes can be locked up only at max braking if you have strong legs. Sometimes fronts lock up, sometimes rear depending on track conditions. Braking wear very even, rear pads have life 1.5 times that of front. Car weight 2050#. Dyno 1/07 = 90hp at rear wheels. Good compression and leak down tests in 10/06.

OTHER COMMENTS - NO OIL LEAKS & NO RUST. Battery box is in good shape. No accidents I am aware of however there is “supposedly” some bondo high on the front of the rear fender on the driver’s side at a small dent.

95,310 06/15/23 Car in storage facility or garage since 1991. Driven occasionally & had regular State inspections and maintenance as needed. Probably driven about 125 miles per year.

The entire time the vehicle had been owned by RAC it has been maintained by owner Robert Lynch & mechanic Michael Owen of Stuttgart Service of Williamsburg, 243 Ewell Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. 757-565-4700. www.stuttgartservice.com. Robert Lynch was the only local person I ever found who was truly capable of working on 914’s. He wasn’t cheap but he was good – my 12/05 bill for prep to go on the racetrack was $17k. The car was off the track in the grass once and through a gravel trap once and also did a 360 spin on a wet pavement once (but stayed on the pavement). Starting in 2007, after I stopped driving it on the track state inspections were generally performed by Howard Motors of Williamsburg. I bought a track prepared 88 Camaro on 01/03/07 and the Porsche never saw the track again.

I have the full maintenance history while I owned the car in 2 notebooks.

Just curious. Stock 2.0 FI? Your powerband really nosedives at upper rpms like it's lacking air.

Just curious. Stock 2.0 FI? Your powerband really nosedives at upper rpms like it's lacking air.

It has stock FI. It has the AutoAtlanta mod kit that feeds more fuel into the system at high rpm It was also going 400 rpm over stock. It did go faster at high speed with this set-up. On twisty tracks like Shenandoah in WV it did very well, however tracks with long straights like Poad Atlanta & VIR it ate dust & fumes.

I am sorry I didn’t notice your post until toadyNov 18. I am not use to selling on line etc.

Do you have additional pictures? Battery tray, underside, engine compartment? Close up of the cowl are you say needs bondo?

The paint in the pictures don't look bad but you stated that it needs paint badly. Any closes ups on the paint damage?

Thanks in advance.
