Hey all,

I am Georg from germany, i try a restauration of a 71, 1.7 914, wich was Signalorange biggrin.gif

Has anybody changed the two balls on the shiftrod ?

This is a write up on replacing the bushings on a tail shift.
Those balls pop off but I don't remember how difficult it was.

914rubber.com has the spherical bushings. As I remember I cracked the old ones and removed them. Then I boiled the replacement , put the metal pieces in a vice and popped the round plastic bushing on with a rubber mallet.

don't get angry about the shift rod ball bushings just take your time with some finesse and they will pop off the replacements are black
