Have a pair sitting on my shelf. Would never install them as they were the cause for many premature engine failures, but for authenticity must have.

Not sure what you mean. I have never heard of the factory heat exchangers doing this on the 912e. How does your car get heat without them? Living in the south doesn't count.

A friend with an 912'E' in AZ wants to ditch his stock HEs. Says he doesn't need heat confused24.gif

Some other 'E' owners posted some pix on the 912BBS showing how they installed the 914 head pipes backwards instead.

Sorry, got to thinking thermal reactors.
Yes, Heat exchanger is different.

The thermal reactors baked the engine oil after shut down, causing premature oil failure and spun bearings.

Mine had suffered that fate and after the rebuild they didn’t go back on.

agree.gif including the Weltmiester collector pipes that replaced the problematic thermal reactors.

@mb911 Ben I would have thought that a 914 banana would be a better donar than a 911 exhaust for that conversion?
