I finally realized why my engine lid flys open bangs the targa top if I don't put one hand on the lid when I pop it open: the rubber stoppers are missing in the hinges.

I looked on 914 Rubber's site but didn't see them based on the item descriptions.

Does anybody know where I can buy them?
dr914@autoatlanta.com
we have plenty, they are also used on the bottom of the front trunk

yep.
originals are still in mine. and rock hard.
i never let the engine lid fly up unrestrained.
put my hand above it when using cable release and open it gently.

didn't realise same as trunk stoppers. looks more purely cylindrical in mine.
but trunk stoppers probably work just fine.

They also push into the leading edge of the front trunk floor to keep the front apron
from rattling.

I just shared with a buddy that not only you're learning 914,

you also try to decipher PO or stock?

An ingenious way of reducing weight. Chapman would probably have endorsed the loss of parts approach. Runs OK? Go for it.

agree.gif thats what I do but did replace mine anyway ,right ba#tards to fit ,I had to mod mine a little to get then in ,I would expect hard ones would strain the hinge if you didn't hold the lid when opening as it is a weak point.
I was thinking about removing one torsion bar but don't think it would stay fully up ?.
jim_hoyland
What’s the maximum height allowable for it to fit in ?
Ordered a pair…..
Mikey914
To install these I found it easier to remove the lid. That way you can relieve tge springs without worring about damaging any paint on the rear trunk.
