Has anyone done a conversion to the 4 headlamp setup as the 914/8?

I am looking into it. How hard can it be?

Not hard, BUT. 100 hours labor and $1000 in materials. Might not pass state inspection. Its not a bad look.

I haven’t seen it. It would require the fabrication of a larger headlight box, larger headlight cover, eye brow, adjusting the size of the opening in the hood and some other adjustments. Also create a dual headlight bulb carrier.

If you love the look, go for it. If you are trying to recreate the entire look of the 914-8, that will be a challenge. It’s a prototype car and many panels differ from production.

I personally like the look of the silver “8” and if I had a lot of money, I’d pay to duplicate it, complete with 908 engine and trans.

How hard can it be, move a couple pivot points, and a bit of metal work.

DGVWPB has some detailed technical drawings of the prototype headlights.

Seems like a big job, seen a few pictures of the 914-8 headlights. Not as deep or long, but wider. Means modified bucket, weatherstrip channel, hood etc. That'd be a lot of metal fabbing.

How about a set of Acura NSX folding headlights like they had in 2001 and earlier if you want to go that way?

Up close it had more of a curve than I thought and no eyebrows to speak of. From the side shot it looks like the headlamp set up would be some work.

Would love a set of those front turn signal lenses.

Yes, probably

I doubt that. Those lenses are completely different from the series-production ones; much thicker and have a completely different profile. The lenses on the infamous "number four" prototype were the same as these.

The four-headlight look would be different. Might be cool, might be ugly. A whole lot depends on the details of implementation! I guarantee you that if I did it, it would look like utter s**t.

It looks very corvette like. Not my thing though I sure would not pass on owning the 8 if it were an option
