many of these over the top guys buy and sell as they love to say that they have had ownership of such a famous and rare car

A lot are trying to liquidate before the bottom drops out.

One of my favorite cars, but I'm not going to sell the house to buy it

Great looking car, what is the story on the black stripes? Did that come from factory or someone just added livery back in the day?

Erich the graphic designer for Porsche back in the day added them. Erich created so many of the cool advertising posters and literature brochures in the sixties and seventies.

Curious.. What is special about this car besides the 914-6 M471 option kit?

It belonged to Erich Strenger ...

And, how's this for prominence?

The M471 shared the track with three 914-6 GTs, filming them as they circulated. It’s likely the car was in Strähle’s hands at the time. Photos indicate the black stripes and larger wheels had been added by then.."

George notified me a few days ago that the car was going on the market. Hope it goes to a good home. I assume it will. Everyone knows what that car meant to me, so no need for me to repeat. Some may wonder if I ever recovered from seeing the car being driven away. It’s been nearly 2 years now since I sold the car. Well….. I must admit that I still quite often have that feeling like there’s something missing. And now seeing it for sale so quickly kind of ignited the emotions. Friends and people that know me well understand.

whats the bet it ain't worth what it was worth the last time it was sold.

interesting photo of it sitting in front of a post war modernist house with palm trees.
got me searching through my architectural texts trying to work if that house was designed by a cult figure long gone west coast architect.
couldn't come up with anything. but the car and the house go together in a fabulous nostalgic modern world way.

Indeed but he is being "coy" for some reason there? He has not outright said he is involved in the deal unless I missed it.

I meant there should be a bit more disclosure. If he’s brokering the sale, then this is an ad that should include a price. If he’s just a cheerleader that’s not financially involved in the sale, then it’s just a discussion.
