Is there a hole on the other side? Maybe it is a year thing. Mine is a 72 and has it on the left.

I was thinking the same thing

I didn’t think the factory made any RHD 914’s. Would it be in the scope of a conversion company to reengineer an ashtray, that is already in the middle of the dash just to move that spring?

With all the RHD threads (Thanks @wonkipop ) and the extensive research in those threads I'm surprised one of the RHD critters haven't posted.

Seems silly to me to re-engineer something that probably worked fine as is.

And "just like that" we have a whole nother insignificant thing to argue about.

Cheers to the OP for noticing such a small detail!

Now, all of us are going to at least check which side the spring is on in our cars trying to find another unicorn ashtray!

A month later,

Someone will post "Unicorn ashtray" in the classified and want $300 for it

A week later,
SOLD!

OK, ya 'made me look'...

What about the 'no spring' option? And it isn't a case of the spring simply missing. The flapper has the hole on the left side, but the front frame assembly that the other end would connect to doesn't have a hole. There is a slight indentation, but it looks like it was never punched out. So wondering if mine ever had a spring...

Be interesting if any more "RHD'
are out there.

the spring and be easily bump off as it happened when I was cleaning it.

super easy to put back on with lil pick tool.

was cleaning to put up for sale, but now it's a "Unicorn?"

Try it!

My comment was in jest but...

I don't care about where the spring is in the ashtray.

I'll remove mine to replace it with a cell phone mounts anyways.

I'm not a buyer.

Someone else might be!

I'll laugh my ass off if you sell it for "big bucks" av-943.gif

Edit: Your ash trays appear very clean. I bet they will sell (for normal price) quickly.
majkos1
I definitely be smiling if fetch big bucks!

Put in into Car-B-Q. lol-2.gif
