73 2.0 Delortos

Last major tune was about 9,000 miles ago and running like a champ until today and it felt like a slight misfire. Just to see if one cylinder was reading different I used the snail on the stacks and found these readings.

#1 reading 7 and vibrating the needle up and down 1 number
#4 #5 solid
#2 #5 solid
#3 reading 7 and vibrating the needle up and down 1 number

Due to equal vibrating readings on 1 & 3 could there be one thing causing this reading or am I hoping too much?

I'm guessing that your control arms for the carbs are on 1 and 3, not 2 and 4?

I bet you need to tighten up your linkage. I bet it has vibrated a bit loose, and is transferring load to the throttle plates on 1 and 3 giving them a little flutter. Or you have vibrated into a slight air leak. Either way, things needs to be tightened up.

Once that is tightened, you can balance the barrels with the balance adjuster nuts, if needed.

I agree 100% with Zach.

What I would suggest is get it warm. Get it to idle.
Remove the linkage that connects both carbs to each other, and to the gas pedal.
Check them, while at idle, no revving.
Adjust using the individual carb adjustment.

Then put (adjust) all the linkage back on to ensure it does not move the carbs at all.

For this reason, I am a huge fan of Chris Foleys cable linkage...
