That looks like an AMCO shift knob. I believe all of them were vinyl (not leather), but I could be wrong. I'm sure someone here will know for sure.

Does the metal base have the tiny allen set screw? That's very important for proper fitment on a 914 shifter shaft.

Yes the set screw is there, and I agree this looks like an Amco.
