I finally got up the guts to cut up the hood on the 914/6 to duct the oil cooler.

Of course I waited to the last minute so I started and finished in one evening.

I worked great! Last track event the oil temps got up to 240+ ... way too hot.

Last Thursday at Pacific Raceways the highest temps were 210!

It also allows better brake coolong.

Did you originally have the ducting going towards the backside of the wheels??

I had a similar experience when I went through the hood about 5 years back.

I lost 20+ degrees using the same cooler.

I keep telling people how much the cooler exit matters.

I did three different exits using exactly the same cooler and lost temp every single time I improved the exit.

I was using an oil cooler exhaust duct similar to what Patrick Motorsports uses that exhausts the air into the wheel wells. Now there are dedicated brake cooling ducts that bring cool air from the front of the car directly to backing plates that fill the rotors.
