Does anyone if the wheels used for dummy spares can have the tires dismounted and then used with regular tires?
If so any idea how wide the rims are?

Yes. It’s done all the time. MB911/Ben did a nice job on his 914-GT and the 911 guys have been doing it for years.

I have a bunch of spares that I keep meaning to take to the tire shop for removal. I plan to sell at very reasonable prices. They are from 944 turbo wheels. Not new but not as old as some. The wheels from the spares are 5.5 but I usually see them re-mounted on to 6x15 wheels .

I'm looking for a five bolt spare. Let me know if you do sell some.

I’ll only be selling the tire. The 944 turbo wheels (outlaw wheels) are for my car.

It takes a bit more patience but the 6’s fit perfectly on a stock body 914. Check pelican, early911sreg & 912bbs.

I’ve sold multiple sets on 914world but I don’t have any at the moment.

For those running 16" wheels I sourced a space saver from an Audi recycler.
It came on the temp wheel from an Allroad. 16 x 6 1/2 Vredestein

Believe the OP question was about using spare rims with street tires.

Yes, you can do that, it's done quite a bit. Different spare wheels will have different widths. The most common swap (especially for 356 guys) are the 944 aluminum spares. I think those are 6" wide.

That's what happens when I start to think. blink.gif

Looks like they're all 5.5".

Had a set many years ago I sold to a 356 guy. Got bucks for them, they are more now I've heard.

Oooo good to know. I was going to put them on the 356 but found out I'd need to redo my wheel studs and didn't feel like throwing more money at it. I might see if they fit over my big brakes on the 914, would make a good sleeper look.
