Hi ,Does anyone or this site have info or link, on how to install factory rear sway bar on car 1974 , that did not originally have a rear bar. How do you locate bar middle bushings ? What size bolts ? etc, etc. I bought a nice factory set up from Mark . Would like expert advice. Before I begin . Yes car already has front bar. thank you , Paul

You need to install the mounting brackets under the car and also the trunk reinforcement plates in trunk (floor).

Here is the kit from Brad Mayer (no affiliation). Looks like it comes with instructions.

This requires welding and protection of the metal after welding.

Once this is done, you need to swap the lower shock bolts (something you probably figured out). Then install the bar.

The drop links can require some force to pop onto the spheres but this can be achieved with a large C clamp. I know there are threads here somewhere. You will want to put grease in the drop link bushings. Another trick that was shared here is to drill a small hole in the center of the drop link bushings to allow air to escape as you are pushing them on the spheres.

This is a picture of the factory brackets welded in. Once you have these mounted the rest will fall into place. There are 2 brackets and the rubber mounts that are available from 914 rubber new drop link bushings and the ball end both that goes in to hold the shock. GLClick to view attachment

BTW, photo shown above is of 75-76 car. Yours will be a little different but same concept.

Keep in mind there is curve in the arms of the sway bar.
The curve 'droops' down not up.

These are original sway bar mounts and reinforcements added to a 914-6. As mentioned they are different to later impact bumper cars.
