Looks like i am flying to Houston to get the parts.
The shipping quote was so ridiculous that i can fly there, get a hotel and car for far less than what ggey quoted to ship everything.


I won a pair of 911 struts with calipers, rotors and hubs on an auction in Houston. I am waiting on a shipping quote but I expect it to be very high. If there is anyone in the Houston area that could collect the struts and ship them I wold pay you their time. I can create a prepaid label and email it.
I typically ship them by removing the calipers, backing plates and hubs. I do not need the rotors. A small Rubbermaid tub works well for shipping. they need to be packed so the parts do not band around in shipping.
The auction also included four 911 Koni rear shocks which I do not need.

I will probably target a 911 owner as it will be worth more to them. I have another 911 suspension i will be selling but it will be a while as i am refreshing it.

I was speaking about the shipping cost being out of sight. Makes for a tough sale.

I usually drop them in a 17 gallon plastic crate and zip tie the lid shut. Easy and shipping is around $75 x-country.

They wanted $1600 to ship about 250 pound of parts.

And they were clueless about how do do it. They were putting a rocker oanel in a box 12 x 24 72 aling with fifty pounds of pargs manuals.
Thats why i am flying there to ship them my self.

I suggested that to them. They said if they did that they would then put the plastic container in a box to protect it more.
Thats when i realized they dont know how to ship car parts.

I ship 911 engines x-country for $500.
Too bad they are clueless but sometimes you get good deals from people who don’t want to ship. It limits the buyer pool and then they sell cheap.
Other times, you just have to walk away.

They really put me in a bind. Auction closed Tuesday. I gat a shipping quote on Wednesday afternoon. If parts are not picked up by friday fivePM i pay a $720 fee plus $15 per day until retrieved. So i made a last minute flight reservation on Southwest as they off two free checked bags. Took 75 pounds of parts manuals in my bags along with some ultra rare emblems.
