Do all 914 enthusiasts have and keep a listing of the projects their machines are in need of? Life, including grandkids, work, travel can often get in the way.

A list of parts I need for everything. Yes. Not that it changes much but I try
DC_neun_vierzehn
Yep. I have a Google Doc with a running list of projects (parts needed, costs, time spent). Sadly, for every one I cross off, two are added.

I keep the completed projects on the list (using strikethrough) to show progress is actually being made. Otherwise, it could feel overwhelming.
Superhawk996
The list is called PET. Need one of everything on it. lol-2.gif

To be honest it’s whatever pops into my head that Particular day. In my mind I need a NM rust free chassis some day and put all my parts on it biggrin.gif
NARP74
@mb911 here's 2. I don't know anything about them but they fit your first criteria.

My list keeps getting longer because of the parts that break ( that keep the car from moving ) get continually put at the top . driving-girl.gif

So the funny thing my car ran pretty well last year but I changed exhaust, went to EFI with wide band o2, gauges for no real reason and thinking brake upgrades to

Ditto for me, if it doesn't make it to "the list" it can't be forgotten. These days I have one running "most" of the time while I am working on ...... what was I working on?
VegasRacer
No list and no budget. elvira.gif
When the car needs something, it is promptly repaired. And then I go drive it some more. driving.gif
Geezer914
You mean the never ending list?

I purposefully do not keep a list, especially not with money spent.

I really don't want to know.

I made a list once. It was too depressing to keep up with it.
technicalninja
I do lists for needs, not cost.
I agree with Sir Andy!

My problem is that I then LOSE the list...

For the last 40 years, we have put all the receipts into a box and we NEVER add them up. We probably could have bought a brand new 911GT3 for what we have spent, and has money left over.

Never add up your receipts.

As for a "to do" list, I have a white board in the garage with the next 3 or 4 things to do to each car. As I do something, I erase it and add something else.

Artfrombama
Instead of lists I set day by day mental goals. If i don’t achieve my goal I set for today there’s always tomorrow.
The object is to stay inspired and not burn out over an overwhelming amount of work.

And don’t let perfection get in the way of progress
pfreiburger
I am OK with a list or no list.

However, I totally agree with not adding up the money spent, especially, ESPECIALLY, if you are collecting parts for a six conversion!

I will NEVER add that one up, I really don't want to know.

I hear you there...but I'm also not building a museum piece nor a purist vehicle. Mine is strictly for fun and it's my glorious bastard. I make lists each week of what I want to accomplish and I usually get the important stuff done.
campbellcj
I'm a list-keeper type, probably more cuz it helps me prioritize/schedule things on an overall 'macro' level across house honey-doos, cars, other projects/hobbies... some things will sit on the list for a really long time but get done eventually.

Totally agree on never, ever adding-up the money or time spent on 914s. I keep all the receipts but try to flush the $ out of my mind quickly and have never totaled it up.
Geezer914
When your 76 you have to have lists for everything!
PanelBilly
So do you add things to your list that you’ve just finished so you can cross them off?
FlacaProductions
I note the cost but i haven't added stuff up in a while.........

I thought about adding it up, but something came over me. Must be ageing idea.gif
