Mike was living in Denver, Colorado when he passed, and Boulder before that.
He spent most of his life in SoCal, and bounced around Georgia a bit.

A lot of people have different memories of him. I only have good ones.

His passing was sudden to everyone, except maybe Mike. We spoke weekly. He died of natural causes.

His family is coming to town on Thursday 8.8 (I will ask them about services, but I know cremation is likely.)

Oh NO! It had been a really long time, but so many good memories from years ago. RIP Z

Wow!! I just saw some posts from him on Pelican. Must of been sudden.

He was one of a kind. Peace brother.

Hadn't heard from him in awhile but a few of the formerly active members have dropped out...sad to hear.

I met Mike only once when I was 19. 25 years ago on the day I bought my first 914, making him one of the first 914 people I ever met.

Bought the car from a friend of his in Santa Barbra but Mikes name was still on the title.

The car was a complete mess but I was 19 so I bought it anyways. The "linkage adjustment" issue preventing the car from engaging 3rd turned out to be a bad trans and the "freshly rebuilt 2.0" wound up dropping a valve seat on the drive from Santa Barbra back to Orange County, yet still I remember it as one of the happiest days of my life and the whole situation set me on the path to obsessively learn all things 914. So in a way this man I only met once played a large part in the direction of my life.

I still have the car today, just finished a full bare metal resto on it, and plan on never selling it.

Godspeed Mike Z. Thanks for sharing the love of these cars and being a part of my journey.

Did Mike live in Cali then move to Vegas at some point? Maybe do some graphics for 911s? I am trying to place him but regardless RIP. I hate to see these things

Yep he lived in Santa Barbara CA when I first met him in the late 90s then went thru a divorce and moved a couple times. Produced graphics for some time as NoBadDays or similar.

He lived in so cal, got divorced and then moved around a lot. He did graphics for a living. Last I heard he was living in Colorado.

Mike and others (like Slits) were always there to bust my chops and give me good advice

they really don't make them like Mike Z any more....for better or worse?

Mike was kind and generous behind the scenes....he didn't want to ruin his reputation

Just heard. Very bummed. I think I first crossed paths with him on the old site in like 96 or 97.

Worst part of getting old is that everyone else is too. Can't believe he was 15 minutes away and I didn't know.
