I need to replace the ball joint nut that connects the strut/balljoint pin.
It’s a M8 lock nut correct, 911 314 119 06, that fits 72-89 911 and 72-76 914s?

Thanks,
Kelly

Thanks!

Do you happen to know the pitch depth of the threads?

I used the m8 nut by ordering the part number in the 914
katalog and proceeded to strip the strut pin.

Be careful! It would be great if
The pin and nut came as pair.

I'd suggest replacing the tapered pin too.

That pin gets "stretched" a bit each time it is tightened.
It only has a few "cycles" in it

If the pin breaks the "Reaper" visits...

New or reused pin, the nut is there to make sure the pin does get out, NOT do drive the pin in, if I recall. Was the pin pushed in accordingly when you used the nut? confused24.gif

I agree, the pin should be replaced.
I used a new pin, nut, and washer.
Frustrating, that the nut was not the correct one.
I did try and use it to seat the pin. I won’t do that in the future .

In the 911 manual, that part is always referred to as "Wedge Pin (always replace)".

I think that might just be a hint....
