For new CVs one option you have is to go to a VW shop and buy these.
They fit after minor modification to enlarge the hole for the roll pin, if I remember correctly. I have one of these on my V8 car. Before you installed your old axles, did you disassemble/clean/inspect/relube them? If not...bad boy!
SLITS
I am, at this moment in time, telepathically sending you a used CV.

Did it work?

Andy,
to be honest, i didn't do anything too strenuious on the CV's. I just hit the throttle and the left one started knocking around.

I think it was about to go before i bought it.

It really is something though. Throttle response is fantastic as well as blinding acceleration. Handles great too. Springs are going to need a look at real soon.

=-)))))))

G friend is callling in sick tomorrow so we can go fer a little ride....

Andrew, it was 2 years ago and unfortunately I did not take notes or pictures. I recall I had to drill out the holes slightly for the stock 914's larger roll pins. I use Permatex sealant instead of the gaskets, it seals better.

Before reusing my old axles and CVs I took them apart. One CV was already trashed with 'blue balls' and damaged races. If I hadn't replaced it then it would have failed quickly with the increased torque of the V8.
