76 2.0 fi stock, 130,000 miles
Lost compression on 1 cylinder. Engine out, heads off, valve seat dropped. Shop said amazing engine hadn’t seized up. Look at pic of valve seat, they had never seen the melted look on the left side of the valve port. Any thoughts on that? Pistons had valve marks, cam was done, crank was 3 thousands out out round, bearings shot. We’re going to replace everthing other than the block (still good). New cylinders and heads, pistons, crankshaft, cam, bearings, clean the injectors, polish all the tin and anything else it might need. Engine should be like new when finished!

I have no idea. I trust this shop completely though, the owner was partners with my previous (retired now) mechanic. All they fix is Porsches. The shop owner has 3 914’s personally.

Btw, my engine has a Tangerine Racing oil pressure relief valve in it. Would the braintrust recommend leaving it in the new rebuilt motor?

Stayed the same…2.0

Finally got it back, drives great, smoother motor. Everything except the original block was replaced. Big shout out to Buckenham’s Stuttgart West Porsche specialists in Stockton, Ca. Owner Mike is an honorable guy, did great work!
