I have been noticing more and more guys on here from Sacramento CA. Several of us have known each other for a while but it is always good to have new friends and resourses. Like I said in another post, we could have a BBQ at my house.
So Roll Call for Sacramento area teeners.

Does Napa count? wink.gif

I am in!!!!!!!!!!!!!! beerchug.gif Your house our mine! I have a huge deck and a big bbq.
ConeDodger
McMark, I would normally call Napa a North Bay area teener but if you bring your wide band and do a tech session we could count you in. Besides, I remember you tuning at Charles Shultz earlier this year. You didn't even get to run. That has to be just plain good people.

PorscheCB, what year and model do you have? I am over in Fair Oaks so we can't be far apart.

Will ya invite "The Andante"?

Ha Mike... Funny guy. Martin Baker and I had a good laugh about his tirade yesterday. He fabricated some of his "cut and paste" of our emails, he changed up the dates to make it look better for him. Basically, his feedback speaks for itself. He has scads of negative and when it isn't negative its often neutral or withdrawn negative. Sadly, he is clearly articulate. But some of his email to me really broke down into unintelligible rants.
Basically, I won an auction. I sent him a cashiers check direct from my bank USAA which is local to him in San Antonio, he cashed it and then ignored about three weeks of emails. He then contacted me about an ad I had in the classified section here for SS heat exchangers. He apparently didn't realize that I was the same guy. I thanked him for his offer to sell SS heat exchangers but declined since I already had an issue with him regarding an internet sale. The rest is history. I saved the emails for my own entertainment. He calls my cashiers check payment illegal, rants about how I am going to get kicked off of Ebay. It took me weeks to get him to focus on the fact that he had been paid and I needed my lug bolts now. It took a dispute filing to get him to send them and even then, he sent 15 instead of 16 and continued his tirade for about 5 days. He gave me a confirmation number from USPS then didn't actually ship for a couple days. Apparently has a USPS account.
Actually, I doubt that he has a 914. He sells these lug bolts for many different kind of cars and doesn't seem to post anything but ads for bolts and such on several car sites.
If he showed up in Sacramento he would be welcome at the BBQ. Doubt he would though. How about you? Did you ever get your ass kicked by the guy who lives on a sailboat? Wasn't he coming for you?

porschecb,
I did the search. Nice car. It looks to be lowered a bit. Is that a dark grey? Mine is silver grey. No rear spoiler. I like the empi's but I like Minilites much better. I am in the process of backdating my bumpers right now. I have a perfect rechomed rear bumper sitting in the back of my 4Runner. The front wasn't up to the rechromers standards so it will be in the shop for another week. I had him repair it well enough so I can lose the tits on the front.

AS of now Looks like it won't be real big bbq. But hey we can hope. It is Labor day however. Lets wait and see. unsure.gif
ConeDodger
Michael,
Actually, I was thinking we could do the BBQ the day of the Silver Star Swap meet. Lots of guys in town for that.
Rob
porschecb
Ok? How many people can you handle? I can do maybe 20 people. parking is a problem as I live on a private dead end road. BYOB / BYOQ! alfred.gif
ConeDodger
Michael,
Actually your house would be better than mine right now. My house was just remodeled and the furniture is still sitting on the deck of the house under tarps while the floor covering contractor does his thing and as of now, it looks like he will be coming to measure next week some time. I would guess two to three weeks after that before I have anything on the floors in my house.
My house will handle a lot more, parking would also be a problem as I live on a private road. I have room for maybe 8 teeners in my driveway. Unfortunately guys don't drive the teener to the swap meet.
Anyway, if your up for it. I think we should make a plan for a BBQ after the Silver Star Swap Meet at your house. I will help with anything you need. I can bring beer and Q. beerchug.gif Least I can do since it was my idea and I volunteered your house! Sound good?

Actually, I wouldn't think that it would be over 20. Maybe 10 -15 tops.

I live very close to you, near Manzanita and Winding Way(There is a nice fruit stand at Winding and Hackberry) Office is in Sacto. I could probably get the wife to throw down with some Texas Ribs, though I would be stunned if she deigned to attend. When is this SS Swap meet?
ConeDodger
Tobra,
Thanks for the holla! The Silver Star Swap meet is in Rancho Cordova on the 18th I believe. Swap meet in the AM, Teener BBQ in the PM? I drive right by Winding Way and Manzanita on my way to and from the sweat shop... Not in the teener though.

OK! Here is the deal: 1:00 to 5:00. PM RSVP! beerchug.gif

Sounds like a plan....

I am in.

I know of two other teeners that will show up for this. John Lafluer another local 6cylinder guy. Martin Baker will want to catch a bit of it but he will have to leave for work so he can be there by three. I imagine other North Bay teeners will want to come as well. McMark? You game? Trekkor?

We will have to get this into the events section somehow. Admin dudes?

Rob
Trekkor
Rob, thanks for the invite. idea.gif

I may actually make this one chowtime.gif

I am off on the 18th, due to a schedule change...not sure if I am going to sell yet at the swap...but I would like to attend the Feast...I met allot of folks last year at the Sac swap, so it was worth going.
Tobra
Where in Rancho Cambodia is this swap meet, one of the places on Recycle Road no doubt. I went out there for a window regulator on the bug once, NLA except via salvage. I have a garage to store anything I happen to obtain, and may talk with the PO of the car I have now and see if he wants to dispose of some of his 914 stuff. He is pretty damn busy with his housing situation though, so may not. Have another friend with a '70 that I almost bought, but don't think he has it registered to drive on the street. Mine has some nasty dry rotted tires on it now, so is not going anywhere until I get the lugs for the alloys.
McMark
I'm out of town on the 18th. sad.gif But let's keep this group going. Better than driving to South Bay. laugh.gif
ConeDodger
I think it is a very good idea to get this group together. For one thing it means you can pick up the phone and find out how to bleed the master cylinder rather than try to decipher the manual if you even have one, but it also means emergency parts exchange and help when you need it. Not to mention the fact that we all might just become friends. So I propose that we get the Cap City Teeners and the NorthBay 914s together for some beer and Q on the 18th after the swap meet.

Hi everyone, I am in Fair Oaks and in the process of getting my 914 on the road. Where is this swap meet? I need mirrors. The drivers side is cracked and the rear view fell off of the windsheld.

How about North Highlands? hide.gif
Steve_7x
Rob / All...

I would be in but I think the date chosen is the same weekend as the Zone event in Fresno. I will be seeing some friends (teener owners) that used to comp and autocross chairs here in Sac. They will be coming up from San Diego.

If y'all pick another weekend I might make that...

Steve
ConeDodger
Ok, so I am going to compile a list of Teeners in Sac and others that are interested from the North Bay area and we Michael and I will get the information out.

Toast, are you in North HIghlands or Riverside? and if your in Riverside how do you know about North Highlands?

I have to go through this thread and check but I think there are four of us within blocks of each other.

I agree with the Jack Stand Smiley! Mine has been on jack stands for months.

Steve, I am not sure about Fresno. We will have more get togethers though. I tend to do a lot of that when my house hasn't been tossed up in the air and rearranged. Once the contractor clears out of here we will have a real Teener party...

You can use that 3M stuff with the green plaid pattern on it to stick mirror on windshield. Youe clean up the glass and the base, trim the little square to fit(I used the one to stick up kitchen stuff, $2 for half dozen pieces)

The 18th is a Sunday, is this deal maybe on Saturday? Where is the swap meet?
914turboford
I live in Pollock Pines and commute to Orangevale. I drive my 914 when the forcast for Sacramento is 88 or less. My teener is a 1973. It has a 911 front end. 911 rear hubs. 16" Fuchs. It is powered by a Ford 2.3 turbo engine bolted up to a Ford Escort transaxle. About 200 hp. Gets 27 mpg on 91 octane. I am interested in participating in teener events.
Brian

I believe that the 18th is a Sunday. The swap meet is at Silver Star Recycling in Rancho Cordova. This is an annual deal and it is worth attending.
Welcome to the Pollack Pines contingent. I assume that you are not driving to Sac at greater than 88 due to cooling issues with the Ford Turbo?
As we assemble a list of names we will get the formal info out to you but it would help if you would PM me with your name and some contact information...

Rob

hey Tobra,
Thanks for the tip on the 3M stuff. Carpet tape just isn't cutting it. If I can hold out until Dr Evil gets back into production, I'll get one of his BMW mirrors.

I live in Elk Grove, and work in Rancho Cordova, just down the road from Silver Star. I will be attending the swap meet, and look forward to meet other 914 owners in the area. I feel lucky if I see one other 914 every couple of months.
Hope to meet you on the 18th.
ConeDodger
eg914 Welcome. We will put together the details of this over the next couple of days. Pretty simple though. BBQ in Carmichael after the SS Swap meet the 18th. 1-5PM I will bring 2 cases of beer and everyone should bring something to BBQ. No rowdiness, prompt evacuation at 5pm... We don't want Michael to sell his 914 because we all turned out to be assholes!

I live in Riverside, and have friends in North Highlands that I visit semi-annually.

I want to drive my 914 up there, but unfortunatly it wont be the weekend of your bbq because I am getting ready for the RRC.

Next time i'm up there, I would like to get together with the Sac locals. beerchug.gif

My parents live in Elverta (near North Highlands), so I'm there every once in a while.

If you guys want I can PM you with my contact information and when you come to town maybe we can "make" and event.

It is always good to see another 914 and owner...

Well guys it is on!!! The BBQ will take place at Mike's (porschecb) house.

Mike has offered to post his personal information in this forum as far as address and time. So watch for that.

I look forward to seeing and meeting each of you on the 18th at the Silver Star Swap Meet or at Mikes after...

I am bringing two cases of beer and something to BBQ. Each of you should bring something and let us know what it would be. That way we will have all of the chips and bean catagories covered.

Hello all! BBQ will be @ 2522 Lillian Ln. Carmichael 95608. I will provide some side dishes as well as some chips and dip stuff. I will also provide some wine for the non beer drinkers. I have 3 non gas BBQ'S 1 big 2 small so cooking times could vary depending on how many people show up. If you can RSVP that would be great. It tells me a little (a lot) about how much coals and such I need to get.

I have somewhat of a narrow street so don't bring a Hummer H1 (relax it not that narrow) I park my teener on it myself.

Valet parking will be provided to all who bring a 914? and you will get to put your grill on first? beerchug.gif chowtime.gif beer3.gif

1:00 to 5:00 (or?)

SeeYa!!!!!!!!!! Michael

You guys that were interested in coming to the BBQ see the nailed topic on the Silver Star Swap Meet and Car Show...

Be sure to PM or Email porschecb with your RSVP too

Hey Michael,
I know Martin Baker is coming. He kind of drops off the face of the earth while he is in his work rotation because it is at least partly at night. He was good enough to come out and sit with me while I had lunch on Wednesday on my way back from a medical conference in SF. John Lafluer is also coming, I think he may contact John Webster as well. Both 914-6 guys. John has a computer that is coughing up blood so he is out of this century for now and wants me to give him your phone number so he can get some directions. Can you PM me with that? I think Trekkor will be there. McMark is out which is too bad. Tobra and Chili are you in? Toast are you up for a road trip? I have room for out of towners to bunk up...
Lets make this happen guys. We need to meet each other and get some resourses going locally...

Well boys and girls... Its on...

Hope to see you all tomorrow at Silver Star and then Michaels... Should be fun to meet and greet and eat some BBQ together...

We haven't heard from the Basement of the Alamo so it should be a friendly group.

See you there. See nailed topic for contact information or PM me or Porschecb for any details you need...

Hey guys, I just saw a NICE lime green 914 parked at a house off of Auburn by the new Costco in Citrus Heights...

Was it anyone from the club?
