Looks like American styling, but with the amber turn signals I'd have to say European. Not Italy or France. Bumper over-riders say 74 or later.

The taillights look Mercedes, but the fastback looks Ford Fairlane or Galaxy.

I think the angle is making it look bigger than it really is.
The first time I looked, I was thinking Opel (Not a Manta though, those are pretty obvious).
Second time the back end made me think 70's Peugot.
This one may be tough.
BTW Wolfgang I love these little quiz's... they're fun.

Thought the same thing, with license blacked out
Rear quarter panel and window kinda looks like a Holden Minaro(sp) but can't find pix of a fast back.

holdens had a more rounded back with flip up tail lights , didn't they? and i don't recall seeing any with that lower body molding.
there is Opel in there somewhere. I'm guessing Vauxhall. It might even be a Katrina
Edit- I'm guessing wrong. Vauxhall is a GM affiliate. Opel is Ford, ain't it?

Opel is GM, and has been for more than 40 years. Kadetts were sold by Buick, and the recent little Cadillac is an Opel. The Cap'n

GM UK = Vauxhall (though they've recently introduced Chevy)
GM Europe = Opel
GM Australia = Holden
Ford US = Ford, Lincoln, Mercury
