I just found these. They were taken at the LeMans Vintage race this year.

I need to add to my list of things to do before I die.

Drive a 914-6 GT around LeMans.

what kind of motors did the GT's have? I noticed they have a real high red line on the tac.

It varied depending on who built the car and what the rules allowed.

I think the Sonauto one that took the GT class in 1970 had a ~200 HP 2.0 liter twin-plug motor. The cars that ran in the Marathon De La Route had pretty much stock 2.0 liter 911S engines, to the tune of ~165 HP.

I have read of ones that used 2.5 liter "built" engines, but don't know the kind of power they put out.

Was it possible to special order a 914/6 with a 2.0 S engine of that model year back then?

here's a complete list of German cities and their license plate abbreviations:

http://www.kennzeichen1.de/stadt.htm

also, the less letters the abbreviation has, the bigger the city (number of residents).
letter count is between 1 and 3, where 1 would be a large city and 3 would be a fairly small town. only exception (of course there has to be one!) is the cities that once belonged to the Hanse. they have a additional leading H, like HH for Hamburg ...
