I've got to pull the rocker panels off this afternoon. Just happens to be one of those things I've never needed to do.

Looks pretty easy, just a bunch of screws, but I haven't really looked closely.

Should I expect any surprises?

Stupid huh? But hey... thats what this site is for right??

mine are rivited on from the top, i assume that all are?

open the door and check. still not hard to get off. be sure to have a rivet gun if you want to reattach.

Actually, from the top, it looks like they just have a bunch of flathead screws. I was more concerned with behind the panel.... on the bottom??

Wherever.... just seeing if anyone ever got into removing them...... then was like "WTF... this was supposed to be EASY!"
nebreitling
mine were very simple and i had to drill out rivets.

just go for it. getting in over your head is half the fun.

The screws holding my rocker panels on were all rusted in and I couldn't budge them ... and, it's hard to get any penetrating oil in there.

They are a snap to get off, I think there are some bolts on the bottom and/or edges of the rockers as well. I could be wrong, it was a while ago that I removed mine. Just be ready for a lot of road crud to be packed in...maybe not seeing as yours have been removed and reattached w/ screws. FWIW I re-rivited mine on w/ some alumn pop-rivits.

Have fun,

oh p.s.

some of the screws on the bottom were a pain in the ass to get out. had to jack up the car just to get a screw driver under there. a quick soak in pb blaster is recommended. on one screw, i broke the heads of two screwdrivers but finally got the damn thing out w/ a vise grip. it was good to see there was no rust, but i was surprised to find about a pound of road debri/potting soil crammed underneath it. found some new screws at the hardware store that fit perfectly. good luck

Use new screws on the bottom, and some anti-sieze.

Cool, thats what I wanted to hear.

THIS IS WHY I LOVE THIS SITE!!

Should be a piece of cake.

Hey, I'm just a careful dumbass...... kinda like the time I had to replace the rear bumper top. As if I wasn't pissed off enough when I found out I had to remove the rear bumper........

The, like a dumbass..... I'm yanking on the bumper, cursing..... ready to drive the car off a cliff...... and swear off 914s forever.

Then I discover there are 2 more bolts inside the trunk that attach the bumper--LOL

Duuuuhhhhhhhhhhh
