I took my car to the PCA Club race at Sebring today. They used a four scale system with a scale under each tire. It looked just like the pic below but I had the f/glass hood on it.

So what do you think it weighs? I'll let five people post thier quess than I'll post the actual weight. The winner will win a package of used sawz-all blades. Good Luck!!!

I posted the wrong damn picture. Here it is...
Jeroen
Ok, wild guess: 1650 lbs

I hope others will post too, cause I'm really curios!

I'm guessin' 1720 lbs. Just wildly guessing that not all the
stuff removed was super-heavy, plus them bars aint
super-light.

I would like to thank you all for your partipation in the first installment of "Guess My Car's Weight and Win A Package of Used Sawz-all Blades Contest"

Are you ready?

1598 pounds!!!

J P you have done it! Now to recieve your prize, I live just off I-75 and Fowler Ave, north of Tampa, Florida. Call me when you're close and I'll have a cold beer waiting.

Stay tuned for round two when the prize will double in value!
Jeroen
Wow! That's great
How much you guess is coming off when you gut out the rear and install fg rear fenders?

cheers,

Jeroen

missed it by that much..... those blades coulda been mine!!!!!!!
URY914
Well I don't know, I see weight savings in the following:
-rear fenders to f/glass
-driver's door to f/glass (I haven't cut the beam out of the stock one so it is very heavy)
-f/glass sail panels and hoop.
-rear panel and tail lights deleted and replaced with a single brake light.
-race slicks vs the DOT tires should save some
-light weight battery
-delete the alternater? Is this worth the inconvience?

Then I need to add back some tubing in the engine compartment. Maybe I can net out with
another 50 pounds savings so my goal is 1,550 pounds.
What do ya think?

ALRIGHT ! Who says cheaters never prosper?
Lessee, I should be there about 3:30 Friday morning.....

I gots a question:

It appears from your pics that your front firewall is...er...nonexistent. How do you get that sucker thru tech?
URY914
I don't say I ENTERED the PCA Club race, I just got it weighed.

I also want to fabricate a engine crossbar from tubing which will save several pounds over that cast iron stock one.

1598lbs, wow! that's terrific. I've been obsessed with lightening my car and seeing just what it takes is very instructive. Thank you Paul.

You didn't happen to jot down the weight of each corner by any chance? I'd be interested in seeing how the bias is front to rear.

URY914
Left front: 474 Right Front: 449

Left rear: 311 Right rear: 365

I don't think this is right because I had
to back my car on to the scales. I think
the front and rear should be reversed.
311 pounds seems too light for a rear
corner.
