The Haynes manual instructs to apply a non-setting gasket sealant to the transmission linkage boots before fastening the boots in place.
I am not familiar with a non-setting sealant. What product should I use for this application?

I agree sealants are overkill on these linkage covers.
For a good non-setting sealant for things like sealing up a gearbox or case, however, Hylomar is very nice.
