i have a crazy ass question...
can i put in a larger fuel tank?
what about if i took out my one (bled it for sure!) then torched the side that faces forward and got another 914 tank did they same thing to it then welded them pack together made sure they were sealed and pressure tested it and put it back in?
would the fuel pump handle all that?
would i need to change me front suspension?
...or does this sound like an all together bad idea?

Why? what do you want to achieve

You could do it. You wouldn't have to fill up as much, but you'll add a ton of weight in extra metal and extra gas. Gas ain't light. Since you want to go faster you should forget about adding that much weight.

How is 16 gallons not enough fuel capacity?

I would check your dwell and timing, and make sure the vaccuum advance/retard connections are all good......
that helps MPG out.....
the answer is maximizing usage of 16 gallons, not welding two tanks together......

Seems like a *much* larger tank up front would affect the handling ? Or

Well ya with a full tank definitely feels better
... but say with a much larger tank filled all the way up and the weight balances were thrown off ?
