I managed to get a bunch of friends to come down and help me drop my engine yesterday, including Jkeyzer. The reason I dropped it was to replace a bad oil cooler and clean things up a bit, replace hoses, that sort of thing. Having dropped it, one of my friends noticed that the shift fork is pinned agains the front of the bell housing, indicating that I will probably need a clutch replacement soon. Pelican wants something like $300 for a clutch kit. Is there a significantly cheaper route than this? I really don't want to put much money into this car, because in a year or less I'm going to replace it with another 914 that has less rust (the grand plan). I'm just thinking that as long as I have the engine and tranny out, I might as well do a clutch job if I can do it cheaply.
