i have a 1.7 with a stock exuast and muffler

im thinking about getting an ansa exaust.
will that boost or reduce my hp any?

will it bolt on dirrectly without any cutting?

about how long would it take to install?
Trekkor
You can do the job in about an hour assuming you have the rear valence installed.

Noticeable HP increase- not likely.
It will *feel* faster due to the interesting new sound. wink.gif

according thier website, Ansa Exhaust, they only make it for the 2.0, and since you probebly still have 1.7 heat exhangers, they won't work properly.

I think they make the car sound even more like a VW Bug barf.gif

I thought the sound of the Bursch had a nice deep sound on my 1.8.

The Ansa exhaust looks like it weighs a ton...not good thing...

SirAndy
it'll be better than the stock exhaust and less effective than a bursch ...

it'll be louder than stock tho, which makes it feel faster ...

PS: no cutting required, just 6 bolts. get new gaskets while you're in there. if you have the stock rear valance, you might have to run without.
and make sure you get the ansa for the 1.7L/1.8L, the 2.0L exhaust is different ...

Don't put much stock in that website. It lists it for the '72-'75 2.0

I have yet to see a factory '72 2.0, and '75 has a completely different setup. I *assume* it will fit a '73 and '74 2.0

Looks like they make 'em only for the 73-74 2 litre cars. They're heavy, are VERY prone to rust holes and pieces falling off, they're heavy, and the sound's not that good. They're expensive, and they're heavy. The Cap'n

I've heard that they are heavy! laugh.gif

Dit I mention they're ugly? And heavy? Or that they're better than the Monza knockoffs? The Cap'n

back in '89 I had a monza on my 2 liter. I like the looks, but the sound got to be a bit annoying. And I couldn't sneek in late at night when I was home from college wink.gif

hm...
kinda dissappionted...
but if it helps at all... idea.gif ...

im sure my dad (john) would like it if the car wasnt any faster, i just thought it was... dry.gif ...

My Ansa is heavy, no doubt about it.

I like the sound and it is very durable. No rust at all as earlier predicted.

I needed *something* and this is what appeared.

Also, dual modified "Cherry Bombs" or Flowmasters.

now you can see why it weighs so much smile.gif

the car does not need 2 mufflers or 4 tips...too much extra cr@p to haul around biggrin.gif

rhodyguy
i've seen more than 1 with the bottoms of the 4 tips ground down due to pavement contact. you need to ensure which he exchangers you have before you make any exhaust choise.

get a triad and be happy! 1 muffler, dual tips, nice tone!

I really like the dual exhaust look of the triad but Dave doesn't make one for my 1.7 - bummer.

I did take the torch to my dual tip exhaust (don't know brand) and moved the tips up just under the bumber. It has no valance. Looks much better and the tips don't scrape the ground.

Some days the sound is OK and others it gives me a headache.
