not only are those exactly the flares the first GT prototype had, in this brochure, porsche offers them as a "factory option" for the 914-6 !!!
and here's a picture of the GT prototype car ...

Those flares are alot different... More like smooth gt flares....

just got another pic - it's at a presentation at the "Hockenheimring" (Germany) raceway in 1969

Good catch on the passenger head rest.
I think that the driver had a racing seat on his side.
And ye sit does have door handles, it's just hard to see since they seem to be painted flat black.
