Current tires on them are
285/40/ZR15, 225/50/VR15 .

RIMS are 15X10 & 15X9
They came off of a '79 930.

Tire Rack does not carry the 285's in 15" for the Kumho's i'm looking at.

WW914CPD? (whatwould914clubpeopledo?)

FYI, I will be using a BF2X4 to clearance the fenders.... The PO encluded a quart of touch up paint. biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Is there a question there? I've read it three times. unsure.gif

There is a tire calculator in the 914Info section at the top of this page.

post pics of the wheels homie.

you will need alot more than a BFH to fit 10's in the wheel wells dude.
cut and splice....
Mueller
nice paper weights smile.gif

there is a reason those sell so cheap, no good tires made in that size anymore......

i'll be around today if you want to load it all up and go for a drive...i be good with a hammer smash.gif

you should be thanking Roger smile.gif

He is going to have a helluva time finding rubber for those.....

last swapmeet I went to, a guy had some cool rims the same size, BBS 3-piece....couldn't find a buyer and all he wanted was $200 for all 4
Aaron Cox
link to auction?????
Dr. Roger
Hey guys, sorry for laggin'...

Met a new single massage therapist and she required more time today than I had expected... biggrin.gif

Yep dems' da' Gotti's. I'm thinking powder coating them black or flourescent purple to match the valve covers... huh.gif

I prefer less sidewall and thought 285 represented sidewall height. Yes/No?

My question is isn't there something about "aspect ratio" that the "285" represents? I have no idea what that means exactly...

When I drop that number doesnt the sidewall decrease? (so 225 40 ZR 15's simply have a lower profile than the 285 40 ZR 15's ???)

Oh and Mark,

My question was is if I cannot find 285's what would the club people do about the right size for these rims. biggrin.gif
Verruckt
Hoosier makes a 275/50/15...

p/n 46540 P275/50ZR15 M
tread width 10.3"
diameter 25.3"
recommended rim width 8.0-10.5"

Yokohama is making the 285 again. saw em on 15x11's The guy claimed he had the first set in the USA.
Aaron Cox
roger

285 = width
the next number such as "40" is aspect ratio, or sidwall height. 40% of 285
and the last number is rim size = 15

285/40/15

I have a contact of someone who was getting 345x35x15 Pirelli's new. They were going for about $600 a pair. I think he's out of them now but my point is they are making the tires just in limited quanties.
The Countach and the 911 rsr shared the same tire as far as I know.

285 is width in mm so 285/25.4=11.22 inches

a 225 on a 9" rim is stretching it....normally 245's are the preferred width, but you'll get quicker steering with the 225's

yup...herr mueller is right.

i got 225's on 8's, 225's are even a tad small maybe on 8"s, so a 9" would be nuts

225's on 9" rims, would make them low rider wheels happy11.gif
Dr. Roger
Oh noooooo. ohmy.gif

So now that I look at Tire Rack I see that there are zero tires to fit the rear rims.

Hoosiers..., well I was thinking of this car as a street rod/road racer/daily driver.

Hmmmmm laugh.gif

I USED to believe that there was no such thing as too wide.... huh.gif laugh.gif

285/40/ZR15

don't run the current tires. pirelly stopped making those sizes 15 years ago and those are probably hard as a rock by now ...

i have been looking for that exact same size for over a year now, no luck ...

if you do find new tires in that size, let me know where!

Put the 9 's on the back , Find some rim outers to make 8's for the front . beer.gif

Andyrew
What size are the rims?

I did NOT see that action... I would have bid!!! biggrin.gif

lol

If there 9's on the back, 265's will fit fine, heck even 245's will fit.

If there 11's.... well... 275 60 15's.. 295 50 15's...

A taller tire will give you some better crusing gearing... Trust me... you want all you can get.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?ma...num=75R5GFTADR2
If you want some stick.. and you dont care about your CV's or your trani....

Thats about all I can think of...
Andyrew
Oh ya, for the fronts.. you want some major stick....

So... 225 50 15's will get you pretty much a bunch of sticky tires..
For super cheap you got kumho 711's..

for major bucks and stick, you have yoko a032r's.

then theres everything in between...
Andyrew
I was scoping around...

and found a web site selling tires that would fit.

275 50 15
or
295 50 15

A tad taller, but it would help crusing.
