I think it's just the angle of the shot, but the Flare on the passenger side
sure looks alot smaller than does the Flare on the drivers side of the
first car in the pics, the Orange #660.

Optical Illusion

My German is a bit rusty, but here's what the photo captions say, as best as I can figure (Sorry Sir Andy):
Es fiel auf, dass alle drei 14er sehr spät bremsten
und die Phase der Leistungsvernichtung bis fast in den Kurvenscheitel
verlagern konnten.
"The teener easily overtakes the poorly balanced and heavy corvette in the corner."

Schwer war es dann eher, die protzigen Amis und Engländer auf den
Geraden zu halten.
"Fucking English backmarkers ruin what surely would have been a new track record"

Es war nicht der einzige Dreher in diesem interessanten Streckenabschnitt.
"Race winner, Streckenabschnitt, completing his 'Alan Kulwicki' Polish Victory Lap"

Oliver hatte Schreckensteiner schon ins Visier genommen.
Die Singer-Lache ist dabei nur ein kleines Hindernis
"Oliver 'Lead-Foot' Schreckensteiner puts the Brumos Mustang another lap down.

Alright, I admit I don't speak German. These were just "educated guesses" at the translations.

this photo was taken right before the yellow 914-6 plowed into the Marcos (who's facing the wrong way). the marcos was totaled, the 914 continued the race but the front oil-cooler was leaking so he had to give up ...
