Hey guys, I'm a long time 914 owner and new to this board, hello to all and congratulations to all the members who contribute to make it such a great resource. Question for the experts: I have searched the archives and see many guys running 944 turbo front calipers on 911 'S" struts. That is my intention as well on a '74 2.0 up here in Vancouver. My question is this: 16" Fuchs were available as a 1 year option only on the '86 944 Turbo. The fronts were 7" wide with a different part number and offset than 911's as required to fit over the larger front calipers. 16" fuchs of that era as fitted to 911's will not work on the front of the 944 turbo, they hit the caliper. Is this also an issue on the front of the 914 with 944 turbo calipers? or will any 16" 911 fuchs work and clear the caliper? Thanks to all.

Yes, the 911 fuchs will hit the caliper.

The 951 fuchs (944 turbo, short run) are nearly unobtainable, as any guy with a running 951 is smart enough to keep them. 951 fuchs have late offset which has room for big turbo brakes. All other 16" fuchs are early spacing, I believe. Unless they were custom made (2 or 3pc).

I'd be willing to bet that any 16" Fuchs will work...

the 23mm offset of the 951 rims was due to a wider suspension, the "regular" 911 16" Fuchs would have stuck out past the fender on the 944/951 (even more so on the '87 and newer models)

Really..... there's a different 16x7 fuchs. Could you post the part numbers & i'll check mine.

Becasue i'm either the luckiest bugger alive & have a set of 4 of these priceless wonders Or the 911 jobbies fit.

PN begins with 951 or 911

951 = CHA CHING money
911 = 100+ a wheel

CAMP I think still has a pair of polisched 16x7 951 fuchs from a turbo 944. They were on a 914-6 he got from me years ago.

I'm running 16X6 all around my car and have 944 turbo calipers on the front with no issues.

951 and 911 16x7 have the same offsets , The diff is in the spokes ,they are offset diff. for the brake calipers.
they have the deep lug bolt holes like 16x9 and 951-16x8

The 951-7,s arent to hard to find . it is the 8,s that have the big offset. 911 guys like for the front

I like the 7,s they have a good look to them,on a 914

any 16" fuchs wheel will work with the 944T calipers...

So, we can use 944 T brake parts for the front with SC front end? Can we use the 944 brake parts for the rear as well?
What brake combo would be the "best"? I would like to move up to 16's or 17's and bigger brakes. Currently I have the 911 vented front and 914 rear.

944T calipers have 3.75" or so spacing, and require modifications to fit 3.5" struts

I've got 944Turbo up front and Boxster in the rear. Right now, car is sitting on 16x6 911 wheels.

Can we use the 944 brake parts for the rear as well?

The rear is a little tricker. Most 14 rear are 3" bolt centre to centre. The 3.75" of 944 calipers can't be trimmed that much. You really need to do some hefty metal work for the 944T calipers to fit or have a bracket made for the newer 993, 996, 986 calipers.

Some good info here, thanks guys. When you run the 16 - 6's, do you use a spacer or does it just happen that mounting the 944 turbo caliper on the 911 strut happens to not hit that wheel?
