my year to date expenditure on my 914 just surpassed my purchase price.
and i haven't even taken her apart yet.
Engine coming out over Christmas break, and then i can finally unwrap all of those ups boxes in my storage space.
It'll be like christmas!
yay! i love opening presents.

Welcome to the 914 accounting club, it's ok to keep records of how much you've spent on your 914, but you only look at the total if you want to get sick to your stomack, and NEVER let anyone else look at your records, especially wife, husband or significant other, etc, lol.
The first couple of years are the worst.
The best part about keeping good records, financial and history is putting a maintenance schedule together and figuring out what you've done, what you still need to do, and the last time you did it.

I rebuilt a Corvette 5 years ago and I meticulously collected receipts. I never added them up, though, because I knew they would exceed the purchase price, and I figure I probaly have at least $5K more in the restoration + purchse price than the car will ever be worth.
As for Babydoll... well, she isn't mine, but we are doing our best to keep the documented expenses as low as possible.
